The Institute

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies. 

In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code).

The role 

The Technology and Business Development Office at CRG is seeking an Innovation Culture Specialist to temporarily cover internal movements in the department. The selected candidate will report to the Head of the Office.

Your purpose will be to manage initiatives to foster innovation culture and the engagement of stakeholders towards impactful technology transfer of the research activity at CRG. 

The successful candidate will manage:   

Initiatives to foster innovation culture  

Networking to promote engagement with industry and innovation ecosystem  

Support Idea detection and Proof-of-Concept processes 

Contribute to the strategy and operations of the TBDO Office through actionable insights and contracts 

Reporting and documentation process  

About the Office  

The Technology and Business Development Office (TBDO) works hand in hand with CRG scientists who aspire to transform their research results into solutions that address today’s innovation challenges and deliver impactful applications. Our mission is to generate positive societal impact from the research and knowledge created at CRG. We foster an inclusive environment of scientific and entrepreneurial excellence, providing researchers with business-oriented guidance and access to investors, innovation networks, and industry experts. The TBDO strategically evaluates, protects, and transfers knowledge and technologies, enabling their development and commercialization through licensing agreements and the creation of spin-off companies. 

Whom would we like to hire?  

Professional experience  

Must Have

You have at least 5 years of experience in leading innovation in public research institutes or equivalent 

You have proven experience in implementing processes to foster innovation culture in biomedical research institutes 

You have proven experience in negotiating IPR aspects in public-private collaborations 

You have demonstrated experience in the identification and assessment of the technical-economic feasibility of technologies to reach the market

Desirable but not required/ Nice to have

You have experience in technology transfer processes such as in IPR management and spin off creation. 

You have experience in procurement and public tenders to contract external services for innovation and technology transfer activity 

Education and training

You hold a university degree in the field of biotechnology or equivalent 

Languages

You are proficient in English 

Catalán and/or Spanish knowledge are a plus 

Technical skills

You have advanced MS Office skills  

You are acquainted with business data analytics and vigilance solutions 

Competences  

Highly developed organizational skills

The Offer – Working Conditions 

Contract duration: 6- month temporary contract, part-time (24 h a week).

Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales

Selection Process  

Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise reflected on the candidate's CVS. It will be merit-based. 

Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and a selection panel if required. 

Offer Letter: Once the successful candidate is identified the People department will send a Job Offer, specifying the start day, salary, working conditions, among other important details.
