Join our Injury Prevention and Mental Health Division as a Health Assistant Division Director. As the Assistant Division Director, the role supports and acts on behalf of the Division Director in various management activities, ensuring seamless operations and effective leadership. The position will work closely with healthcare providers, public health agencies, and community organizations and offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on advancing public health and health equity across Minnesota. Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: + Collaborate with Division and Agency managers to develop policies and initiatives, evaluate programs, and maintain strong interdepartmental relationships. + Budget development and monitoring. + Ensure programs achieve strategic goals while adhering to federal and state laws. + Serve as the primary liaison for Divisional support functions such as human resources, IT, and finance. This position requires an employee to be onsite at a MDH office location (https://www.health.state.mn.us/about/locations/index.html) at least 50% of their scheduled work days per month and may be eligible to Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) up to 50% of their scheduled workdays in a month. Employees that live 50 miles or more from a MDH work location, and live within Minnesota or a state bordering Minnesota, may be eligible to telework more than 50% with approval. **Minimum Qualifications** _To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure your resume/application clearly describe your experience in the areas listed below and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of the minimum qualifications will be considered for this position._ Four (4) years of management and leadership experience in a public health or human services program such as substance use prevention, health budget operations, or injury and violence prevention. Experience must include all of the following: + Project management and strategic planning. + Financial oversight, including budgetary oversight, contract and grant management. + Policy, procedure and program oversight, creation, and implementation. A degree in public health, public policy, public administration, or related field may count towards professional experience as follows: + Associate's = 6 months. + Bachelor’s = 12 months. + Master’s = 18 months. + Doctoral = 24 months. To be assessed at interview: + Knowledge of public health and injury, violence, and substance misuse prevention activities. + Communication skill sufficient convey information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences. **Preferred Qualifications** + Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to state and local public health programs. + Experience developing solutions to complex policy issues involving multiple stakeholders. + Experience engaging with diverse communities and stakeholders to promote public health initiatives and build collaborative partnerships. + Experience representing MDH in high-level discussions and public meetings. + Experience analyzing public health data and using it to inform decision-making and program improvements. **Additional Requirements** + Must successfully pass a background and reference check. + This employment does not require a valid driver's license, but it does demand occasional travel, which the candidate will be responsible for meeting. + The successful candidate under U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services regulations must be able to accept work in the U.S. by the day employment begins.
