Infrastructure Engineer

Baird’s IT Operations Infrastructure Engineering team is looking for a forward-thinking, intellectually curious individual who enjoys working with people and Microsoft technologies to solve business problems with a focus on Azure, M365, Power Platform.

As part of the IT Infrastructure engineering team, this role will interface with multiple teams throughout IT to serve as the go-to for new projects and troubleshooting issues.  This is a highly visible and critical role in the success and health of Baird IT Enterprise Applications. 

We are looking for someone who is ready to solve problems, make improvements and contribute to the overall architecture of the Baird infrastructure. 

This is a hybrid opportunity for candidates in Milwaukee WI, or Louisville, KY with 3 days/week in office and the other days remote.

As an IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will:

Investigate and learn new and emerging Enterprise Services (e.g. Microsoft 365 applications, Microsoft Power Platform, and Azure technologies) with an eye to selecting and implementing the right solution for project teams and the business.Build, configure, and administer Baird Infrastructure with the focus on Microsoft technologies.Manage Azure Entra ID integrations for both internal Baird applications and external vendors.Monitor current Enterprise Services for performance and stability.Assists in long-term strategic planning to ensure capacity meets current and future requirements which include planning for new hardware and applications.Communicates and collaborates with project delivery teams and IT security team to ensure applications align to best practices and Baird security policies and guidelines.Create documentation and mentor other IT Operations team members.Ability to work in a 24x7 support environment, participate in an on-call rotation, and have experience of responding to client needs as raised in Service Desk tickets.

What we look for:

At least 8+ years of technical experience and successful deployments of Microsoft products at an enterprise level.Strong experience with cloud integration related to Microsoft tools.B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering preferred or equivalent experience.Working knowledge of physical infrastructure architecture, cloud integration models, and workflow diagrams.Strong troubleshooting capabilities and be able to apply previous knowledge to new situations.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively exchange ideas and information and effectively relate to others to accomplish work responsibilities.Strong leadership and a proven ability to influence othersGoal-oriented with strong attention to detailAble to work and grow in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
