TRAVEL REQUIRED: Regularly, mostly weekly and worldwide

LOCATION: Portsmouth, when not travelling

About the role....

Are you interested in joining a specialised Airbus team that develops new communications kit? Looking for a role where you can install equipment newly created by your team? Enjoy travel? Linux Systems Administration experience? Then we’d like to hear from you!

Due to organic and business growth, we are looking for an Infrastructure Delivery Engineer. You will be joining a small team, where you will play a pivotal role in transforming new and advanced concepts into operational systems that make a difference. Working on SATCOM related projects, you will bridge the gap between early stage (low Technology Readiness Level) technologies and fully deployed solutions for customers. 

How you will contribute to the team...

Deliver and maintain robust, future-ready infrastructure to support evolving project and operational needs, including server and network upgrades, patching, and continuous improvement.

Design and implement detailed infrastructure and sub-system architectures, creating comprehensive documentation and ensuring seamless integration with project teams and customer environments.

Collaborate with external contractors and cross-functional teams, providing expert guidance to ensure high-quality delivery and alignment with technical and business requirements.

Drive the definition and delivery of fully functional sub-systems, leveraging existing development assets and reference designs to accelerate deployment and innovation.

Refine and enhance infrastructure software and hardware components, adapting designs to meet current and future demands while supporting successful on-site implementation.

About you...

Linux system administration experience – Although we use RedHat, happy with most Linux Distros, examples are: Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSUSE, Linux Mint, Debian, and Arch Linux

Networking experience – CCNA certification or equivalent experience is desired

High availability (HA) Virtualised environments– VMware related technologies

Comfortable working onsite as the sole Engineer and with short delivery timelines
