Responsibilities Performs work that involves planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and/or maintenance of hardware or software systems using standard principles, theories, concepts and methods for systems administration. Utilizes diagnostic tools and techniques to verify operability, optimize the functionality of networks and/or systems, and to diagnose/recover failed systems. Carries out routine maintenance, upgrade, and support of hardware, operating systems, and/or applications software. Implements security plans, policies, and preventive maintenance schedules. Provides ongoing optimization and problem solving support to minimize interruptions in customers' ability to carry out critical business activities. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Specialized IT experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training or IT certification which demonstrates skill in applying:Principles and methods for integrating information systems components; Performance tuning tools and techniques; System diagnostic tool and fault identification techniques; Systems administration methods; and IT security principles. OR Completion of a master's degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree in computer science/engineering, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours as indicated above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. In addition, candidates must demonstrate IT-related experience which addresses the following five competencies: 1. Attention to detail - Such as implementing quality control procedures and conducting compliance reviews. 2. Customer service - Such as providing assistance to both internal and external customers; assessing customers' needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction. 3. Verbal communication - Such as conducting formal presentations or training to audiences at varying levels of hierarchy and technical expertise. 4. Pay-Band Allowances and Differentials Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
