Information Systems Intern

The IS Internship at St. Peter’s Health offers undergraduate students an invaluable opportunity to gain practical experience in Computer Science, Networking, System Administration, and related technical fields. This hands-on program is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world IT operations. Interns will work alongside seasoned IS professionals to support a wide variety of technology systems and initiatives in a dynamic healthcare environment.

KEY LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES: Help Desk Experience:  Gain firsthand experience responding to Help Desk tickets by troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues, developing critical user support and communication skills. PC Imaging and Building:  Participate in imaging, configuring, and deploying PCs to understand workstation setup and maintenance. Networking Skills:  Assist with basic networking tasks to explore foundational aspects of network administration and connectivity management. Cybersecurity Exposure:  Observe and support cybersecurity practices and protocols to understand how healthcare organizations protect sensitive information. Project Involvement:  Contribute to ongoing IS projects, enhancing collaboration, documentation, and problem-solving skills in real-world scenarios. Professional Development:  Receive direct supervision and mentorship from experienced IS professionals, with opportunities for feedback and career guidance throughout the internship.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking principles. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to follow instructions, manage time, and work both independently and collaboratively.

EDUCATION: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, preferably pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, System Administration, or a related technical field. High school diploma or GED required.
