INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST (TITLE 5)
Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST (TITLE 5), Position Description Number T5003000 and is part of the NC ANG, National Guard (145 Airlift Wing / MD 0104597234). Responsibilities As an INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0080-12, you will serve as the Wing Information Protection Program Manager executing/enforcing all operational, functional, and mission assurance aspects of the program; formulate wing program goals, plans, policy implementation guidelines, procedures, and work plans dealing with the development and operation of wing-wide information security programs and activities and provides technical and administrative direction to subordinate wing information security personnel; interpret National Guard Bureau (NGB), Air National Guard (ANG), Air Force (AF), Department of Defense (DoD), and other federal regulations for information security processes as they apply and are implemented within the Wing; prepare information security review reports and providing recommendations and advice; analyze and evaluate the classification downgrading, declassification, and destruction programs; advise installation project engineers, project managers, command mission leads, action officers, and effected operational officers of their responsibility to provide proper classified management guidance and specification requirements during performance of respective duties; oversee, direct, monitor, and conduct regulatory and non-regulatory security surveys and Information Security Program Reviews (ISPRs) to monitor and enforce implementation and oversight of DoD Information, Personnel, and Industrial Security Programs; make information protection risk assessments and risk management/mitigation strategies/recommendations based on intelligence-derived threat issues that may require deviations from or synthesis of policies; use initiative and resourcefulness in researching and implementing new and improved security methods and procedures; deliver Security Awareness and Education Programs to satisfy security education and training requirements for all assigned organizations; oversee the development of recurring education and training for Top Secret Control Officers (TSCO) and Original Classification Authorities (OCA); exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities; direct the overarching focus and direction of the organization; provide broad directions for work by articulating goals or financial constraints of higher level management or headquarters; explain performance expectations to subordinates and provides regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses; and perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications General Requirements: Each applicant must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade and demonstrate the ability to: analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; plan and organize work; and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Specialized Experience: At least 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level experience of the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the positions, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. For Supervisory Positions, Must have experiences in managing and supervising work functions and discipline requirements. Experienced in conducting employee performance evaluations; mentoring junior officers and enlisted squadron employees, managing resources and budgets; and directing assigned work, and leading the employees on all program tasks, inspections, exercises, deployments, and/or mobilizations. Must have experiences in planning and scheduling work in a manner that promotes smooth flow and even distribution of assigning work requirements. Experiences included Information Protection program training and guiding employees on programs and through assigned tasks. Experiences involved balancing Information Protection program requirements and providing advice, guidance, and direction on a wide variety of the program's policies and employee performance administrative issues. Experienced in structuring assignments to create effective and efficient procedures that resulted in measuring improved task processes. Previous supervisory experiences created improvements in mentoring, training applications and career development that resulted in the employees' increased performance values in quality work, timeliness considerations, and work efficiencies. Education You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims.
