As an Information Security Engineer (ISE), you will provide a lead role within a security domain in the implementation of the established Enterprise Information Security Program, supporting the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF), to ensure that all State information assets are adequately protected against current/future internal/external threats. The ISE contributes to the planning, design, and implementation of Enterprise-wide information security systems, and recommends modifications/additions to current policies, procedures, and guiding practices to be implemented by all State agencies as appropriate. The ISE may also participate in employee training, and certification and accreditation of program management.
The ISE operates within one or more of the following security domain areas – system access, telecommunications and network security, security governance/management practices, application and system development security, cryptography, security architecture and models, operational security, security related incidents, business continuity and disaster recovery planning, incident management, legal investigations, and computer forensics systems.
Additionally, the ISE helps assess, develop, and implement processes used to measure and report security risks to management, both within specific government entities and for the Enterprise. The ISE will lead the development of processes to ensure appropriate security controls are designed in all new government computer systems.
**This position requires an employee to be onsite at 600 N Robert St, St Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location.**

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in an in an information security role.
Experience must include:
+ Planning, developing, and implementing technical security.
+ Experience working in cloud environments, such as Microsoft Azure.
+ Experience integrating security practices into the software development lifecycle.
+ Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
+ Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience with cloud security tools such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Key Vault, and Entra ID.
+ Strong knowledge of secure coding practices.
+ Azure RedHat Openshift or Kubernetes administration.
+ Experience conducting application assessments and vulnerability testing.
+ Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST CSF or ISO 27001.
+ CISSP, AZ-500, or similar certification.
