Log back in Information Security Analyst Tier 3 Posting Number 2025-14854 Posted Date 1 day ago(7/25/2025 9:00 AM) Location : Location US-NY-New York Hybrid Remote Work Classification Mostly Remote: Remote more than 60% of time Department Security Operations School/Division NYU IT (WS1170) Compensation Grade Band 53 Union N/A FT/PT Full-Time Category Technology Position Summary The Information Security Analyst Tier 3 provides technical guidance and leadership to ensure effective threat detection and incident response activities, employing advanced techniques, tools, and workflows to continuously improve. Lead initiatives to identify and mitigate complex security risks by analyzing security events and alerts, developing novel techniques for detecting new attacks, executing incident response procedures, and communicating and assisting stakeholders. This involves leveraging advanced tools and technologies, as well as creating and optimizing workflows, to enhance cyber capabilities and response efficiency. Conduct an in-depth analysis of multiple data sources and leverage advanced technologies to detect and respond to compromised systems and accounts. Identify and mitigate sophisticated phishing campaigns, as well as identify and remediate highly vulnerable operating systems and software. As part of the continuous improvement focus, actively contribute to developing innovative approaches and best practices in cybersecurity. By providing expert triage and incident handling for discovered issues, ensure that cyber threats are effectively addressed and mitigated. Partner with cybersecurity leadership to manage larger incident response efforts, further refining workflows and strategies to foster ongoing progress in cyber defense. Qualifications Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.

Required Experience:
5+ years involving information technology and/or information security, compliance, or risk management.

Preferred Experience:
5+ years of experience working in a large-scale information technology environment. Working knowledge using network and system diagnostic tools. Experience securing cloud computing environments. Experience with scripting, programming, or automation methods. Strong background with intrusion detection or system protection tools and methodologies. Background in developing threat detection rules.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated understanding of advanced IT security principles and concepts. Ability to communicate information and security concepts to non-technical audiences. Experience with multiple operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS, or Unix/Linux. Strong understanding of networking, detection engineering, and incident response processes. Must possess strong critical thinking and analytical skills. Must be able to maintain adequate confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information. Maintain a high level of discretion.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong understanding of advanced security controls and information security best practices. Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure and application monitoring tools. Working knowledge of cloud architecture and security concepts pertaining to cloud environments. Working knowledge of containers. Working knowledge of computer network protocols, network security architecture, and computer architecture. Working knowledge of network systems, security principles, applications, and risk and compliance initiatives.
Additional Information In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $145,000.00 to USD $165,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
