We are looking for Information Security Operations Engineer to take a lead role in developing and maintaining secure systems. Reporting to the Information Security Operations Manger, you will help the team monitor and maintain systems and applications, detect and respond to threats, resolve incidents, identify and eliminate vulnerabilities, and provide support to users throughout the diverse Fred Hutch technical community. You will also collaborate with Fred Hutch architecture, development, systems engineering and network engineering teams on complex and exciting technical projects to build secure solutions in the cloud and on-premises and raise our level of compliance with information security standards. This role will have the opportunity to work partially at our campus and remotely. Evening and/or weekend work may occasionally be required.

Responsibilities Actively participate in the Incident Response ProgramWork closely with our MSSP to handle escalated security incidentsManage the security monitoring platform and respond to network and endpoint security eventsUnderstand security vulnerabilities and provide relevant guidance to other IT teamsAssist in analyzing and defining security requirementsWork closely with the IT Security and Compliance team toward the implementation and maintenance of all data security-related infrastructure and policyAssist in identifying security risks by participating in security reviews, evaluations, and risk assessmentsProvide support to Security Operations teams to solve technical challenges related to the implementation of security solutionsAssess Software as a Service (SaaS) products for security complianceDevelop and maintain security monitoring, logging, and auditingInstall required security patches and updates for a wide range of applications. Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related field or the equivalent experience3-5 years’ experience in information securityExperience in GRC tools such as Archer, MetricsSystem, BWise.Knowledge and experience with identity and cloud security technologiesStrong knowledge of SIEM and Splunk solutionsKnowledge in information security fundamentals (threat modeling, penetration testing, incident response, network security, physical security, etc.).In-depth understanding of endpoint and network security for Windows and Linux

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong technical expertise with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel)Experience with EDR tools such as CrowdStrike and MS Defender for Endpoint and network security solutionProficiency in log analysis, threat hunting, and forensic investigation techniquesExperience with scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash) to improve workflows and efficiencyIn-depth understanding of identity, endpoint, network, and cloud security fundamentalsFamiliarity with GRC platforms and security frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, or HIPAADemonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive improvements in security operationsProfessional certifications such as CISSP, GCIA, GCIH, OSCP, or comparableFamiliarity with SOAR platforms and automation playbook designKnowledge of data governance, insider threat management, or eDiscovery platforms

The annual base salary range for this position is from $95,888 to $143,811, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This role will have the opportunity to work partially at our campus and remotely.
