Summary
Infectious Disease Physician – Moffitt Medical Group
Moffitt Cancer Center’s Department of Infectious Disease invites applications for an Infectious Disease (ID) Physician to join at the Assistant or Associate Member rank. We are a hybrid academic practice affiliated with the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.
The ID Physician practices medicine within the scope of authority and privileges granted by Moffitt Cancer Center. The Infectious Disease Physician provides patient care under the auspices of Moffitt Medical Group, and serves as member of the academic medical enterprise; advancing the institutional mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer. The position may span the clinical and research enterprise, and supports patient care, research, and education. Clinical activities include attending on the Transplant Infectious Diseases (TID) inpatient and general ID consult service at Moffitt Cancer Center, outpatient clinics for both the immunosuppressed service and general ID. The immunosuppressed service traditionally includes hematopoietic transplant recipients as well as chimeric antigen receptor therapy (CAR T) recipients. Experience in TID-related research, medical education or antimicrobial stewardship is highly desirable. Trainees that are on the TID team include medical students, physician assistant students, general ID fellows from USF MCOM, rotating ID fellows from local facilities as well as TID fellow(s) from Moffitt. The Chief will allocate the position’s effort between clinical, research, educational and administrative activities.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants should have a completed MD, MD/PhD, or MD/ Master’s degree. Should possess active FL MD Licensure or be eligible for one. Should possess an active DEA license or eligible for one. Should have completed subspeciality or fellowship training in Infectious Disease. Applicants should also be Board Certified in Internal Medicine with a certificate of special qualification in infectious diseases or be eligible for certification.

JOB COMPONENTS
Patient Care
Demonstrates an interdisciplinary approach to evaluation, management and treatment of cancer patients by working with a team of specialists to optimize patient care delivery. Meets or exceeds all documentation and communication requirements essential for safe and effective patient care, as determined by the Cancer Center. Maintains requirements for medical staff membership and clinical privileges within the Cancer Center. Adheres to all medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations. Conducts inpatient attending and consultation, admitting team duties. Provides care for inpatients and outpatients throughout the Cancer Center, to include general infectious disease, infectious disease as it pertains to perioperative care, and care for immunosuppressed patients. Provides care for ID patients at the Center when on call.
Research
May include referral of patients to clinical trials, management of clinical trials, publication of cancer related scholarly articles to recognized journals, and/or academic grant proposals and management. Pursues and secures grant funding as directed by the Chair.
Education
May include organization and administration of educational activities, participation in journal clubs, case studies, departmental educational meetings, core lectures and fellows' multidisciplinary conferences. May serve as a mentor to junior faculty and other trainees within the Cancer Center. Demonstrates a passion for learning and professional development. Assist in the education of all ID Trainees including medical students, residents, fellows, APP Trainees and Pharmacist trainees.
Service
May include participation on institutional/hospital committees, participation on committees in regional, national, or international organizations, outreach and patient education activities.
Infection Control
Consult with Program Leader and Staff to formulate recommendations regarding unique Infection Control decisions throughout the institution.
Antimicrobial Stewardship Program
Participate in antimicrobial stewardship activities through the institutional ASP program, and assist in supervision of the ASP ID Pharmacists.
