No weekends. **Location:** AdventHealth Lenexa City Center 16950 West 86th Street Lenexa, KS 66219 **The community youll be caring for:** Our newest hospital in the Kansas City metro area AdventHealth Lenexa City Center will include around-the-clock emergency care, surgical services and inpatient beds for medical-surgical and short-stay units. The new campus will include: + 244,000 square feet + Capacity for 98 total beds (44 on opening and 54 slated for future expansion) + Four operating rooms (two upon opening and two slated for future dates) For more information on our new hospital please visit: AdventHealth Lenexa City Center (https://www.adventhealth.com/adventhealth-lenexa-city-center) **The role youll contribute:** **Reporting to the Patient Safety and Quality leadership team, the Infection Preventionist works with the Medical Director of Infection Prevention, other members of the infection prevention and control program, hospital administration, providers, and staff to develop and implement the hospital-wide infection prevention and control program. Activities include investigation of infection problems and outbreaks, formulation of infection prevention and control policies and procedures, performance of unit and laboratory-based infection surveillance, implementation, project management, process improvement, identification and follow-up of significant pathogens, and education of hospital personnel.** **The value youll bring to the team:** + **Conducts routine surveillance plans to detect hospital associated infections and outbreaks.** + **Collects and analyzes clinical and laboratory data to accurately detect and characterize infections as community associated or hospital associated.** + **Collaborates with peers and clinical laboratory staff in order to identify, investigate and resolve cases of hospital acquired infections.** + **Reviews, analyzes, and implements regulations, standards, and/or guidelines of applicable governmental agencies and professional organizations.** + **Collaborates in the development and delivery of educational programs and/or tools that relate to infection prevention, control, and epidemiology.** + **Reports infection surveillance, prevention, and control in formation to local, state and federal public health authorities in accordance with law and regulation.** + **Participates in the development of special studies designed to identify unusual epidemic situations or to evaluate the impact of new products, equipment, or delivery of patient care.** + **Evaluates the performance of the Infection Prevention and Control Program and proposes modification of the Program's procedures and goals, when necessary.** + **Oversees the planning, design, implementation, and completion of Infection Prevention and Control related projects with support from peers.** + **Serves as co-chair of the Infection Control Committee and serves on other ongoing and ad hoc committees or task groups throughout the organization.** Qualifications **The expertise and experiences youll need to succeed:** **Education:** **Associate's Degree-Required** **Bachelor's Degree- Preferred** **Field of Study in health science, healthcare delivery, public health, laboratory science** **Work Experience** **2 Experience in clinical setting, infection control or public health. Advanced degree/ internship could be considered in lieu of experience** **Required Additional Licenses and Certifications** **Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) OR Long-term Care Certification in Infection Prevention (LTC-CIP) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) Required** **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** **Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, with proficiency in English language including effective writing, listening, speaking, and teaching communication abilities.** **Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, directors, medical staff, employees at all levels of the organization, and externally.** **Requires excellent computer skills, including advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), and the ability to learn other computer software such as hospitals E-Mail, clinical software (Laboratory software, Pharmacy software, etc.), purchasing software, Infection Prevention relational database software, and NHSN (data entry and report generation), etc.** **Must have a working understanding of medical terminology, safety terms, and be able to follow discussions in reference to regulatory guidelines and standards.** **Requires understanding of basic and advanced epidemiologic methods and statistics, including knowledge of algorithms used to identify potential HAIs for further evaluation and review, and the ability to apply statistical techniques to describe data, calculate risk-adjusted rates, and establish internal benchmarks.** **Must be able to identify common bacterial and fungal pathogens, understand basic laboratory procedures, and critically evaluate laboratory and clinical methods, procedures, and results.** **Ability to work independently to collect and critically evaluate information to characterize and manage infection prevention and control issues, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and assignments, correctly prioritize, and demonstrate excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills** This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
