Job Summary

Summary<br>Responsible for the coordination and planning of Infection Control activities. Provides guidance and consultation in the development, planning, and coordination of infection control. Conducts relevant investigations and develop reports pertinent to clinical risk management issues.<br><br>Does this position require Patient Care?<br>Yes<br><br>Essential Functions<br>-Report communicable diseases to local and state health departments and complete public health department forms as needed <br>
-Utilize performance improvement methodology as a means of enacting change. <br>
-Develops an annual surveillance plan based on the population(s) served, services provided, and analysis of surveillance data. <br>
-Maintains records of actual potentially infectious patients and reports pertinent information to county, state, and federal agencies as required by law. <br>
-Provides formal and informal education programs to hospital personnel as necessary or when directed. <br>


 

Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's Degree Health Sciences required or Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only preferred Certification in Infection Prevention and Control [CIC] - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology preferred

Experience
Clinical healthcare experience 1-2 years required

3-5 years of experience in Infection Control preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Clearly demonstrable expert-level knowledge in infection control and prevention.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Statistical methods and data analysis and report writing skills.
