The Infection Prevention Assistant supports the Infection Prevention team by monitoring and reporting communicable diseases, conducting rounds to ensure adherence to infection prevention protocols, and maintaining accurate data for tracking, reporting, and compliance purposes.
Major Responsibilities:
Reports communicable diseases to local, regional, and/or state health departments in compliance with regulatory requirements Abstract relevant data from patient charts for infection prevention tracking Conduct routine environmental rounds to assess and ensure adherence to infection control standards Perform hand hygiene rounds, monitor compliance, and provide education as needed Enter and maintain accurate infection prevention data in the appropriate database Support infection prevention audits, as assigned Extract and compile data from spreadsheets for Infection Prevention meetingsLicensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

One year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in infection prevention, nursing, or clinical support roleKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Strong attention to detail, particularly in data entry and reporting Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Proficient in computer skills with demonstration of competence in use of Microsoft Word and Excel Customer service skills including conflict resolution Ability to manage multiple competing priorities including regulatory reporting timeframes May be required to travel to different healthcare locations to perform rounds and audits Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for specific infection prevention tasks to meet reporting deadlines Ability to follow standard and transmission-based precautions, including donning and doffing personal protective equipment Knowledge of medical terminologyPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Completion of accredited Medical Assistant Program, Licensed Practical Nurse, or equivalent healthcare-related education. Certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse Experience in infection prevention, or public health.
