INFECTION CONTROL SURVEILLANCE NURSE
A Surveillance RN will, under the supervision of the Director of Nursing (DON), provide nursing care to clients as outlined in section 2 of the NC "Article 9A. Nursing Practice Act" and rules of the NC Board of Nursing. Perform Infection Control surveillance tasks within the facility that will ensure compliance with state, federal and other regulatory agencies. QUALIFICATIONS: + One year experience with IFC in a facility setting preferred. + Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and current North Carolina RN Licensure required. + One year nursing experience preferred. + Must attend 12 hours of Person-Centered Thinking training prior to or within 90 days of hire. + The candidate must pass the criminal record history clearance and a child abuse clearance and any other required clearances as well as possess a valid driver's license. + LSCI, SCM, Ukeru training as appropriate for position. JOB DUTIES: + Attend monthly infection control meetings corporate and facility. + Conduct IFC surveillance within the facility and input data into designated database. + Report and maintain records of designated infections to the Health Department. + Maintain biohazard containers for facility. + Maintain the cleanliness of the exam room. + Maintain refrigerator temperature records within the facility. + Maintains records of all clients with Healthcare Acquired infections. + Prepares an agenda for the monthly meeting of the facility Infection Control Committee. + Coordinates orientation and in-service education programs on prevention and control of infections for personnel and clients. + Perform IFC surveillance walk thru and input information into database for IFC QA weekly. + Should deficiencies be noted during a walk through, it is the responsibility of the Infection Control building representative to report the deficiency to their immediate supervisor to facilitate corrections. + Work as a staff nurse on the units when needed. + Provide nursing care based on client needs. + Assist with the development of plan of care. + Observe client behavior and physical status and notify Licensed Clinician, DON and/or Physician of changes in condition. + Assist in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment that respects client's rights. + Assist clients with activities of daily living, encouraging independent behavior when appropriate. + May supervise LPN's during shift. + Assist in the performance and/or observation of restraints as necessary when ordered by a licensed professional using the current approved KidsPeace restraint methodology on youth who may weigh in excess of 250 pounds and who are verbally and/or physical threatening or otherwise presenting a threat to themselves or others. + Administer medications as per Physician's orders and observe, record, and report evidence of adverse reactions to medications.
