Infant Nutrition Technician – Float Position

This is a float position designed to provide as needed support to the Infant Nutrition team. It will not replace any existing primary position. We’re looking for individuals who are open to learning and willing to cross train as an Infant Nutrition Technician as needed. Position Summary:

Responsible for the storage, preparation and delivery of all infant/pediatric formula, mother’s breast milk, donor human milk and adult enteral feedings including blenderized feedings. 

Responsibilities:

Adheres to all sanitary regulations and standards established by regulating agencies and Kootenai Health related to the Milk Room Interacts with patient’s parents, dietitians, nurses, physicians and other members of the patient care team Follows the principles of aseptic technique Maintains a clean environment conducive to aseptic technique Properly handles HM and formulas to ensure safety and minimize waste Educates parents/caregivers regarding the Milk Room and role in patient’s care Performs quality assurance tasks such as maintaining logs for equipment temperatures and DHM use Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function Performs other related duties as assigned Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:

All internal candidates must be in their current role for six months.

Please Note: All internal candidates must be in their current role for six months (does not apply for FTE Changes) or have written approval from manager to transfer early.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred Preferred: Appropriate certification or college degree in relatable field i.e. Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, Human Milk Technician Certification, Clinical Laboratory or Human Tissue Bank Must be able to read, write and perform necessary mathematical tasks at the high school level or above. ServSafe Certification, required within 30 days of hire Computer literacy Must be able to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.

Working Conditions:

Must be able to maintain a sitting and standing position  Must be able to stoop or crouch Must be able to see small print and markings on equipment Typical equipment used in a clinical job

What to Expect after you transfer:

•          If you change your title or department, you will receive a new badge. Badges are printed and available in Security on the Wednesday of the week following your transfer.

•          Your benefits may change if your position status (FT, PT, or PRN) has been updated. Please talk with your Recruiter if you have any questions about your status and benefits.

•          Those with a primary position as a PRN will receive per diem pay. Per Diem rates are tiered depending on number of years of employment.

•          If you are moving into a new role, HR will provide you with a new job description to review and sign. HR will also request documentation for any new requirements for your position, including experience, education, licensure, certification, etc.

•          If EPIC training is required for your role and you have not completed the required module for your position, please complete an EPIC Fast Track Attestation at https://kh.org/epicfasttrack

•          If an advanced background check with Health and Welfare is required for your role and you have not completed one previously, you will need to complete the process before your transfer date.
