The refrigeration technician/operator will operate and maintain low temperature refrigeration systems that include ammonia, Freon, brine and glycol as the refrigerants/coolants. This position also includes the maintenance/ operation/ troubleshooting of boilers, hot water generators, air compressors, excellent electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills and other duties as assigned by the Refrigeration Supervisor.
This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the refrigeration systems while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Tasks
Need to operate high pressure boiler.EPA License Troubleshooting and repair knowledge of compressed air systems including compressors and air dryers, etc.Assist in PSM/RMP.Ability to work overtime; including weekends, holidays, and off-shifts as needed.Ability to travel 10%.This individual should be able to work proficiently without supervision.Required to pass and maintain OSHA 40 or 24 hour HAZWOPER and obtain/maintain at least Level 4 as designated to respond as a HAZMAT TM, as required by Tyson. Be a member and participate in the HazMat team and don applicable PPE.Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include overtime. Able to read and understand schematics, diagrams and P&ID’s Able to understand Temperature/Pressure relationBe part of the Refrigeration trainee program preferred.Requirements
Minimum 12 months continuous work history with the same employer in the last 18 months.6 months of hands-on Ammonia/NH3 Refrigeration experience.Recent graduates or students currently in school within the last 6 months must add this information under the education notes section.Industrial refrigeration operator/technician experience with RETA training and certification is a plus.1st Grade Stationary Engineer License (City of Houston) or must obtain a 1st grade Stationary Engineer License within 4 years of employment. HVAC experience is a plus.Troubleshooting skills with a working knowledge of mechanical and digital control circuits.Strong electrical troubleshooting. Experience building/rebuilding pumps, motors, compressors, and electrical componentsHave adequate plant experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.Applicants will be considered for General Refrigeration level openings.
Leveling (pay) is determined during the interview process based on skillset, knowledge, and experience.
Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 90 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.
