Industrial Process Engineer (Metallurgy)

Our Australian Munitions teams in Benalla and Mulwala produce propellants, explosives and munitions for defence and commercial uses. Supported by ongoing investment into research and development, we produce some of the world’s most high-performing guided weapons and explosive ordnance systems. And being at the forefront of a rapidly evolving industry gives our teams constant opportunities to build on their technical expertise.

In this exciting role, you will work on a projects focused on bringing new hot forging capabilities into existing manufacturing processes.

Working at our Benalla site - Pangerang land, you will ensure that the manufacturing processes fully address all industrial constraints leading up to the production launch, while also providing ongoing support for the manufacturing of munitions for both defence and commercial purposes.

On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours: 

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering or related fields, with experience in manufacturing processes. Forging experience is beneficial

Knowledge in materials engineering, heat treatment of metallic components, review and development of welding specifications

Evaluating the suitability, performance, and properties of materials for product development, including manufacturing processes

Experience with the establishment and operation of new manufacturing equipment

Experience of test & inspection equipment techniques and the ability to analyse & interpret related test results

Experience & knowledge of machining techniques

Demonstrated ability to establish technical and manufacturing data packs

Proven capability in conducting root cause analysis of product defects and implementing corrective actions

Proficiency in analytical and problem-solving techniques

Collaborate with Methods and Technology departments for smooth project progression and provide technical support when needed

Implement and uphold HSE management system requirements, ensuring compliance with the sites Safety Management System
