Responsibilities As a Ergonomic Specialist, you'll be assigned to a regional area, supporting objectives related to containment in safety and injury prevention. You'll provide technical assistance, consulting support, development / facilitation of training initiatives, and implement safety and accident prevention programs to ensure a safe place to work and shop. Safety: - Applies expert knowledge in safety standards, OSHA standards, NFPA regulations, human factors, and local, state, and federal safety and health policies to safety and injury prevention in assigned facilities - Serves as subject matter expert on injury prevention; provides specialized safety training to Partners and Safety Team members - Collaborates with Facility, Regional, and Division leaders on total safety management in all areas of respective operations - Reviews / designs job tasks to effectively manage physical demands with sound ergonomic principles - Coordinates with on-site medical services to review injury exposures for ergonomic root causes, change management - Supports Risk Solutions Regional staff in their daily safety responsibilities Training / Mentoring: - Mentors Regional Safety Coordinators and Safety Trainers in their daily work; specifically emphasizes knowledge related to human factors and ergonomics - Coaches / trains Management and Partners in OSHA, NFPA, and local, state, and federal policies, standards, guidelines, and safety initiatives, best practices, and safe behaviors - Coaches / trains Partners on information related to human factors and ergonomic exposures to minimize risk of body mechanics-related injuries Investigating / Auditing: - May manage / supports complex work injury investigations for litigation defense - Participates in OSHA serious injury procedures, specifically for investigation and root cause analysis - Participates in industrial safety reviews of MWT facilities to ensure compliance of OSHA, NFPA, and related local, state, and federal policies, standards, and guidelines What is your background? - A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience - 3+ years of related experience - Experience in industrial ergonomics - Experience with H-E-B safety and injury prevention, work injury, liability, safety, and accident prevention programs or equivalent - Experience in occupational injury medical management (preferred) - Professional Safety / Ergonomics certification or equivalent - Valid Texas driver's license Do you have what it takes to be a fit as a Ergonomist Specialist at H-E-B? - Comprehensive knowledge of the application of standards / regulations of OSHA, NFPA, and local, state, and federal safety and health policies - Advanced PC usage skills (software, systems, H-E-B network) - Advanced interpersonal and coaching / mentoring skills - Advanced verbal / written communication skills - Advanced analytical, reasoning, and decision-making skills - Advanced project management skills - Bi-lingual (English - Spanish) skills (preferred) - Ability to drive for results while maintaining excellent working relationships with facility-level leaders - Ability to deliver presentations to various audiences - Attention to detail Can you... - Function in a fast-paced, industrial, office environment - Travel to facilities throughout the H-E-B network with possible overnight stays - Work extended hours and flexible schedules, including some nights and weekends 09-2022
