POSITION SUMMARY:
The Industrial Engineering Project Management Co-Op supports WRMG’s Project Management Office (PMO) by assisting with engineering and operations projects across multiple functions. This role is designed to provide Industrial Engineering students with hands-on experience in project planning, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. The co-op will contribute to enhancing project delivery efficiency while gaining exposure to large-scale engineering and manufacturing operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supports project planning and execution by assisting in scheduling, resource allocation, and milestone tracking for engineering initiatives.Analyzes data and processes to identify opportunities for efficiency, quality, and cost improvements within project workflows.Develops project documentation including process maps, reports, presentations, and dashboards to communicate progress and outcomes.Collaborates cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure alignment on project goals.Assists in risk assessment and problem-solving by supporting project managers in identifying issues and proposing solutions.Applies Lean and continuous improvement principles to strengthen project outcomes and drive operational excellence.Supports PMO standards and best practices by utilizing project management tools and methodologies.ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNEDEXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Degree Required: Choose an item. Currently enrolled in Industrial Engineering or related Engineering program.Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or Systems Engineering (if applicable)Certificate(s) or License(s): None required. Lean/Six Sigma coursework preferred.Years of experience: Previous internship or co-op experience in engineering or operations preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret data and make recommendations.Familiarity with Lean principles, process mapping, and continuous improvement methodologies.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working across diverse teams.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; exposure to project management software (MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent) preferred.TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasional travel between WRMG manufacturing or office locations may be required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly sits and does computer work.
Occasionally walks and stands.
Seldom/Never lifts up to 50 lbs.
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
