The Store industrial Engineer is responsible for developing, analyzing, and maintaining engineered labor standards for our store operations. This role plays a key part in supporting store productivity, payroll forecasting, and operational efficiency by applying industrial engineering principles and time study techniques to store processes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Conduct time and motion studies in stores using recognized labor measurement systems to develop and validate engineered labor standards.
Build and maintain a comprehensive catalog of labor standards tied to specific store attributes, services, and other operational criteria.
Analyze store process performance to identify labor variances and recommend improvements or standards adjustments.
Partner with store teams to understand and document operational workflows by observing execution in the field.
Support the implementation of standardized operating procedures by providing labor data insights and measurement logic.
Collaborate with operations and labor planning teams to ensure alignment between labor standards and scheduling tools.
Provide recommendations to senior management for improving utilization of labor, equipment, and utilities in our stores while maintaining a high level of customer service.
Evaluate new technologies, equipment, and procedures to understand their impact on labor requirements.
Monitor metrics and key performance indicators tied to labor productivity and communicate insights to leadership.
Collaborate with leadership to refine individual team roadmaps, ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives.
Conduct labor analysis to assess the impact of process changes and evolving operational workflows.
Understand and forecast the implications of workload changes on labor requirements and productivity.
Develop quarterly and annual labor forecasts, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
SKILLS/EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES
Required:Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field of study
Must be willing to travel up to 50% to conduct on-site studies
Communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present complex data to leadership
Desired:Experience with labor standards development, volumetric analysis, and budget forecasting
Expertise in workforce management systems, scheduling systems, and labor analytics.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Knowledge of time study techniques and labor measurement systems (Example – MOST)
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools.
Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Example - Lean or Six Sigma)
