Industrial Designer, 3D Surfacing

The Industrial Design Surfacing Team is a key component of new product development for Stanley Black & Decker’s Hand Tools and Storage Business. The team delivers complex 3D surface models that represent the design intent of the industrial design team. The Industrial Design 3D Surfacer will help deliver 3D CAD surface models for multiple brands of the business.
As a member of the Industrial Design Surfacing Team, you will work closely with talented and experienced Designers, Engineers and Program Managers to provide critical 3D CAD productivity.
Daily duties will entail creation of 3D CAD surface models using a variety of surfacing tools in CREO to support new product development projects and concepts.
**Essential Duties:**
+ Create parametric surface models of new products and new product families in CREO that are adaptable to change as design evolves
+ Employ Data Reuse techniques to help maximize efficiency and quality of throughput
+ Manage time effectively in order to support multiple projects concurrently
+ Adhere to company 3D modeling best practices
+ Use a PDM system to manage 3D CAD data
+ Meet product schedule deadlines
**Specific Skills:**
+ Strong understanding of CREO Surfacing Tools
+ Understanding of manufacturing requirements, and how they are applied to component designs.
+ An eye for aesthetics, and an ability to translate 2D sketches into 3D CAD surface models that accurately capture industrial design intent.
+ Great communication & collaboration abilities.
+ Excellent creative problem solving.
+ Self-motivated and a positive attitude.
+ Ability to work well with, and influence established teams.
+ Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple priorities.
+ Must have strong time management skills
**Education and Experience:**
· BS, BA or equivalent in Industrial Design/Engineering Design Technology
· Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
· Experience in 3D CAD packages with a focus on Surfacing (CREO preferred)
