Job Purpose: To direct deliver and participate in the design and development of complex, major engineering products and projects for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability.
Job Description: We are seeking a HIGHLY skilled Class A surface creo Modeller to join our dynamic Industrial design team. This role requires a strong understanding of industrial design principles, engineering requirements, and manufacturing processes to create high-quality, manufacturable surface models.
The key role of an Industrial Design– Surface Modeler is that of principal contributor on a design team responsible for development of the complex surface models for concept and production components. As a Surfacing Designer on the Industrial Design team, candidate will work with a small team of surface modelers where all will have a strong, always growing, understanding of advanced surfacing principles and practices to create models with proper application of tangent/curvature/acceleration continuity conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Develop and create complex 3D surface models for products, components, and assemblies using advanced surfacing tools within Creo (e.g., Freestyle, Style).
•
Work with industrial design and engineering teams to translate aesthetic concepts and sketches into robust and manufacturable 3D geometry.
•
Analyze and evaluate surface quality, continuity (G1, G2, G3), and curvature to ensure designs are visually appealing and meet technical specifications.
•
Repair, patch, and manipulate imported surface data from other CAD systems.
•
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and quality assurance, to ensure designs are optimized for production and meet all design standards.
•
Perform design reviews and provide expert input on the manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of complex surface designs.
•
Must have basic knowledge of manufacturing processes such as rotation moulding, injection molding, thermoforming, SMC fiberglass, cast urethane/rubber, and stampings.
•
Lead and manage team members on specific projects, ensuring timely and successful project completion.
•
Familiarity with tools for analyzing surface quality, such as curvature analysis, reflections, and draft analysis.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
•
Proven experience as a Design Engineer or Modeler with a strong focus on advanced surfacing in PTC Creo.
•
Expert proficiency with Creo's surfacing modules, including Freestyle and Style.
•
Deep understanding of surface continuity (G1, G2, G3) and analysis tools.
•
Excellent DFM (design for manufacturability) skills and extensive understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications.
•
Must have expertise in Creo parametric and surfacing software developing complex and detailed parts at the highest level, including “master/skeleton” modeling for highly integrated assembly components.
•
Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, product development lifecycle, and manufacturing processes (e.g., injection moulding, sheet metal).
•
Experience with Model-Based Definition (MBD) is a plus.
•
Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
•
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
•
Excellent communication, teamwork & problem-solving skills.
•
Willingness to relocate to specific Cat facility locations if required.
•
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering/ Industrial Design, or a related field.
•
A minimum of 10 years of experience is required, including at least 5 years in the relevant field.
