**Essential Responsibilities**
Leader for GST function for Wabtec India entities having operations in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad, Kolkata under the guidance from the Group Tax leader for India. Key responsibilities include:
+ Managing overall indirect tax compliance to ensure timely and accurate indirect tax filings including availability and completeness of all the relevant documents as prescribed under the law related to input credit and all account and records such as Purchase register, Input tax credit register, Sales Register, Reverse Charge register, Job work register etc.
+ Leading GST and Customs Audits, assessments, scrutiny assessment, Investigations,
+ Wing to wing management of GST audits/ assessments/ scrutiny assessments, advance ruling etc. including preparation/ review of replies to notices, written submissions, filings. Representation of Indirect Tax matters till commissioner (appeals) level.
+ Deciding upon appeals and other legal recourses arising from disputed audits, assessments and subsequent proceedings.
+ Managing engagement with Big 4s, senior counsels, law firms/ other advisors for opinions, effective representation before revenue authorities, courts/ appellate authorities.
+ Tax vetting of agreements, contracts, and other misc. communications, as required
+ Support to Group Tax Leader on Advocacy efforts related to incentives from Government authorities… Responsible for identifying potential indirect tax incentives applicable to the business and managing the same with Group Tax Leader
+ Drive and set-up tax processes/ sub-processes in the businesses such as GRN, material receipting process, free issue to job workers, purchases, Imports, Job Work processes, outside vendor processing, Trading, Material Returns, Repairs, Replacements, Warranty Replacements, Rejections & corresponding documentation of all the above processes viz. invoicing, delivery challans etc.
+ Set-up ERP systems and processes relevant for indirect tax applications related to the businesses and oversee implementation. Update of tax requirements in ERPs from time to time
+ Providing operational guidance for application of appropriate indirect tax on purchase, sale/ manufacturing/ job-work transactions
+ Responsible for tax efficient sourcing of material/ services including validation of HSNs/ SACs, tax savings vs estimates etc.
+ Working with cross-functional team such as sales, finance, legal and supply chain leads for operation support on indirect taxes and identify opportunities for optimizing applicable indirect taxes
+ Responsible for managing the Indirect tax Refund process for the businesses across all P&Ls
+ Ownership of accuracy/ adequacy of indirect tax asset and liability balances in Indian statutory and US GAAP accounts.
+ Review of tax account reconciliations periodically and ensure integrity, completeness and accuracy in account reconciliation process
+ Calculation and validation of monthly RCM GST payments.
**Basic Qualifications**
Chartered Accountant / Law graduate from reputed school
**Eligibility Requirements**
Minimum 7-10 years’ work experience on indirect taxes in reputed manufacturing industries or Big4s
**Desired Characteristics**
+ Deal orientation – strong influential skills in order to successfully canvass suggested deal structures both internally and to clients
+ Experience of tax integrations in Oracle/ SAP ERP & other integrated Systems/Subsystems
+ Experience of working in Big4s is preferred
