Job DescriptionThis role focuses on Tax Planning and Audits with an emphasis on U.S. state and local indirect taxes, property taxes and business license taxes. It will oversee and manage tax audits, develop tax strategies aligned with business operations and regulatory requirements, stay up to date on tax laws affecting the business, advise on tax software installations, prepare and review tax returns, and provide technical guidance to internal and external customers.
Responsibilities:
Develop and oversee tax compliance procedures for sales and use tax filings and or property tax filings for divisions and/or locations to ensure proper accrual, collection, and remittance of all taxes.Regularly review applicable court decisions, existing law, and regulations which may influence audiLead statistical analysis and reporting on large tax-related datasets to identify patterns and assess compliance risk.Analyze financial data to identify potential tax risks and opportunities; provide actionable recommendations and solutions and drive them through to completion.Oversee monthly tax compliance calendar to ensure tax filing deadlines are met timely.Conduct quality checks on audit methodologies and ensure compliance with internal and external rules and procedures.Lead tax software user acceptance testing and training to ensure tax compliance processing and reporting is successful.Review and analyze the sales and use tax implications of IT projects affecting customer invoicing, purchasing, fixed assets, and cross border intercompany trade.Prepare and review U.S. state and local sales and use tax returns, gross receipts, property, and business licenses for all 50 States, including District of Columbia and all 10 Canadian provincial taxes including GST and HST.Determine the resolution of sales/use and property tax notices and inquiries from the tax authorities.Verify the accuracy of the general ledger sales tax and property tax accrual accounts, as well as the monthly divisional data, including tax accrued on accounts payable and fixed assets while also considering tax exempt purchases/sales.Oversee complex tax requirements on customers and provide direction to ensure accuracy.Assist with the Indirect Tax team’s adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley procedures.Qualifications4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance is requiredGraduate Degree -Master's Degree in taxation or J.D. is preferred7+ years of relevant work experience is requiredExperience with sales tax compliance software and general ledger packagesAble to apply work experience and knowledge when analyzing complex problemsMust be able to consistently identify critical elements, variables, and alternatives to develop solutionsMust be able to organize/prioritize existing resources and incorporate new information, as needed, to implement the most effective solutionsRequires excellent communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understandCPA preferredAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines. RRD's current salary range for this role is $80,700 to $129,200 / year. The salary range may be adjusted
based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the
future. At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and
compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency,
performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation
package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program. RRD’s benefit
