Indirect Tax Analyst

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Indirect Tax (VAT) Analyst is responsible for ensuring Value Added Tax (VAT) compliance in the company's domestic and international operations, particularly those related to the maquiladora industry and distribution activities.

This role involves the analysis, preparation, reconciliation, and timely submission of returns, as well as the correct application of tax treatments in accordance with the VAT Law and other applicable guidelines. Additionally, the Analyst provides support in internal and external audits, as well as responding to tax authority requests for VAT refund requests.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tax Compliance:

Calculation and filing of VAT returnsPrepare and review monthly VAT returns for various legal entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Mexican tax legislationDetermine credit balances and refund requests, when applicable. Tax and Accounting Reconciliations:Reconcile accounting and tax balances for creditable, transferred, and payable VAT.Verify the correct classification of taxable, exempt, and 0% income, especially in maquila and export activities.Refund and Offset Management:Prepare VAT refund files for credit balances, including supporting documentation (XML, policies, contracts, customs declarations, etc.).Follow up on procedures before the SAT and respond to requests.Documentation and CFDI Control:Ensure the correct issuance and validation of CFDIs in accordance with SAT requirements.Verify compliance with tax requirements for payments, supplier invoices, and import/export receipts.Analysis of Foreign Trade Operations:Review import and export operations with customs declarations, and the validity of the use of 0% rates for maquila in accordance with Article 29 of the VAT Law and SAT rules.Support compliance with VAT/IEPS certification and IMMEX audits.Audit and review support:Participate in tax audits, both internal and external.Respond to SAT requirements related to VAT, in coordination with other areas (customs, finance, legal).Tax updates and process improvements:Stay up-to-date on relevant legislative changes related to VAT, foreign trade, and rules applicable to maquiladoras.Propose improvements to tax control processes and automate reports.
