Job Description Insight Global is seeking an Indirect Material Buyer for a client in Summerville, SC. The primary responsibility of this position is to source and purchase plant maintenance, repair, and operating supplies to meet the needs of plant production and maintenance groups. Secondarily, this position will also have responsibility for some level of direct material purchasing, and will act as a proxy for direct material buyers as needed. The Indirect Material Buyer will interface directly with internal customers, external suppliers to monitor and communicate the status of material orders and indirect material inventory levels and update plant production and maintenance associates accordingly. Essential Functions: 1. Facilitates, communicates and expedites the flow of materials from suppliers. 2. Maintains a balance between all sourcing decisions and cost savings initiatives. 3. Works closely with suppliers and customers to coordinate changes with production/maintenance schedules. 4. Negotiates and purchases services and supplies in response to requests from operations and maintenance. 5. Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers at the lowest cost. 6. Monitors inventory according to established levels for supplies and tool crib. 7. Keeps management informed of issues that impact production. 8. Works with cross functional group to improve processes and material flow. 9. Contributes to continuous improvement in lean manufacturing practices such as 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, visual management, 1-piece flow, etc. 10. All employees are responsible for having an awareness and understanding of the commitment to IATF 16949 standards. Skills and Requirements 3-5 years of experience SAP ERP system experience. Bachelors degree in a related field Must be comfortable spending time on the manufacturing floor to develop relationships. Proficient in MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Power Point. Excellent communication and analytical skills (both oral and written). Ability to survey manufacturing floor to identify opportunities for improvement. Must be available to work flexible hours to service plant operations.
