Inbound Transportation Manager

As an Inbound Transportation Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the performance of our domestic inbound programs with our carriers, vendors and operations teams. You’ll be responsible for carrier management and sourcing, performance of operational KPIs, driving process improvement from origin to destination, operational efficiencies, forecasting and data reporting and analytics. You will lead continuous improvement projects that optimize operations and improve profitability to meet and exceed business objectives. You will work cross functionally with our category/merchandising teams to drive transportation performance, vendor selection and the financial outcomes. This role plays an integral part of managing speed, spend, service and security of our Inbound Operation.
This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days at our corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota, and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. What you’ll doEvaluate carrier performance, negotiate competitive rates, and manage shipping operations to stay within budget while maintaining speed and efficiency.Lead performance reviews with vendors and carriers; negotiate contracts and develop benchmarking scorecards to track service levels.Support carrier selection processes, manage RFPs, and assess network needs for optimization opportunities.Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, vendors, and internal operations teams to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are consistently met or exceeded.Oversee and manage weekly and monthly reporting cadences, tracking performance against forecasts and budgeted KPIs.Recommend transportation modes (IMDL, Truckload, LTL, Parcel) based on a balance of speed, cost, service, and security.Develop and implement strategies to resolve logistical challenges and enhance operational efficiency.Contribute to holiday peak planning and execution in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.Implement cost-saving strategies, including shipment consolidation and cube optimization.Apply industry trends and insights to continuously improve and evolve transportation operations with a high focus on Freight Theft & Load Security.Basic qualifications5 years of transportation or logistics experience3 years of experience managing vendors or carriers Ability to communicate effectively, think critically, develop strategies, collaborate internally and externally, and work independently is critical in this roleStrong business and financial acumen with experience in reporting suites (PowerBI)Preferred qualifications7 years in transportation or logistics experience, preferably working with carriers, vendors and TMS experiences2 years of experience with people managementExperienced in designing freight pricing models aligned with network needs and designWhat’s in it for you
