Job Description

Job purpose / Objective

The purpose of the position is to Oversee and manage the Operation & Maintenance of Mechanical Facilities and utility equipment's to ensure that the mechanical systems run smoothly and efficiently to ensure compliance to safety and regulatory standards. Coordinate and oversee the work of external contractors, vendors, and service providers, ensuring that contracted work is performed to the required standards.it also involves overseeing the team of oil management systems, overseeing material handling equipment, and ensuring proper functioning of areas such as the diesel yard, gas yard, LN₂ yard, and Taxi operations.

Job Title: Group Leader – Mechanical Services in Facilities & Mechanical Services

Key Responsibilities:

1. Mechanical operation Systems and Asset Maintenance.

Establish & sustain Utility maintenance management process, prepare contingency plan & execute, evaluate the life cycle of the equipments & prepare investment plan for 3-5 years. Ensuring the uninterrupted supply of utilities for production MAE.Oversee day-to-day O&M of mechanical utilities, HVAC, compressed air, boilers, pumps, and other equipment.Develop preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to ensure equipment uptime and longevity.Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and reliability.

2. Contractor and Vendor Management

Supervise and coordinate the work of external contractors and service providers.Ensure all outsourced services are performed according to contract terms and quality standards.Review and approve maintenance scopes, service contracts, and work permits.

3. Compliance and Safety Management

Ensure strict adherence to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements for mechanical systems.Monitor compliance in licensed areas (diesel yard, gas yard, LN₂ yard), ensuring documentation and safety measures are maintained.Implement risk assessments, safety audits, and emergency response protocols for mechanical operations.

4. Utility & Oil Management

Oversee lubrication and oil management systems, ensuring proper storage, usage, and disposal in accordance with environmental norms.Monitor utility consumption and propose optimization measures to reduce costs and environmental impact.

5. Material Handling Equipment Oversight

Manage maintenance and safe operation of material handling equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and hoists.Ensure operator training, routine inspections, and certifications are up to date.

6. Company owned Vehicle and Taxi Management and Support Services

Oversee the scheduling, maintenance, and compliance of company taxi operations.Ensure vehicle safety, driver management, and coordination with HR/admin functions.

7. Leadership and Team Development

Lead a team of mechanical engineers, technicians, and support staff.Foster a culture of safety, reliability, and accountability within the team.Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations.

8. Liasoning and Statutory Compliance

Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure Legal compliances for maintenance of Boilers, Pressure vessels, Gas/Fuel storages etc

9. Project Management

Implement project management approach for upgradation of utilities & support MAE relocation activities ensuring timely completion of projects with key deliverables etc

QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.10 to 12 years of experience in mechanical operations and maintenance, preferably in industrial or facilities management settings.Proven experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing vendor contracts.Strong knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance in licensed mechanical areas.Experience in handling utilities (compressed air, chilled water, HVAC, etc.) and material handling equipment.Exposure to SAP, CMMS, BMS, SCADA, Power-Bi or similar maintenance management systems is preferred.

Competent on the elements of Utilities e.g Compressed air generation and distribution system, HVAC system, Water, Pollution control equipment's, etc.Proficient on HIRA process for the activities carried out, contractor management as per the related clause related to safety and legal requirementsAdvance knowledge on digital tools (e.g Power BI, IOT, Analytics etc) and norms such as C/RE guidelines, IATF 16949, OHSAS, NBC, ISHRAE/ASHRAE guideline etcCompetent in usage of problem solving sheet, PDCA, 8D, FMEA.
