Role Summary:
The Import/Export Compliance role will coordinate, supervise, and control trade operations in accordance with current local customs and foreign legislations, seek applicable governmental administrative benefits and improvements in the operation of imports and exports at designated Flowserve sites. The Trade Compliance position will provide daily, ongoing support to the site Trade Compliance Coordinators and ensure that specified Flowserve facilities are in full compliance with all local and Flowserve trade requirements.
Responsibilities & Requirements:
- Managing importing and exporting activities
- Audit import and export declarations for accuracy and recordkeeping.
- Ensure regional best practices and government processes and controls are implemented.
- Maintain Integration Point classification database.
- Participate in quarterly customs broker reviews.
- Oversee Free Trade Agreement programs at each facility and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Identify additional duty savings opportunities and pursue unrealized savings where applicable.
- Oversee import and export license application processes.
- Maintain all customs records of approval or denials; Import Classification, country of origin determinations, on-going import/export compliance training.
- Conduct site assessments.
- Assist in the following areas: government inquiries, intercompany valuation, I&C support as needed.
- Oversee Anti-boycott Documentation and Notification.
- Coordinate the implementation of Flowserve and/or facility specific policies and procedures.
- Identification and correction of import and export compliance program gaps.
- Provide daily ongoing support to the specified site Trade Compliance Coordinators.
- Ensure site personnel are trained on import/export processes and using the import/export compliance tools for product and technology imports, exports, and re-exports. Conduct training as needed.
- Investigate complex, cross functional/company, compliance problems, questions, or complaints and multi-location export compliance issues and assist with the resolution in conjunction with the corporate Trade Compliance Teams. Make disclosures to government regulatory agencies; coordinate corrective actions with the business and track progress.
- Ensure compliance with the policies, procedures, and programs for the Sustainable Management System, Safety, Quality, Social Responsibility, and Environment.
- Comply with the safety, order, and cleanliness measures in the work area.
- Carry out all Pure Safety modules according to the annual program before the 20th of each month.
- Ability to work effectively with site leadership and the Corporate Trade Compliance Team.
- Interact with all facility personnel, corporate officers, government officials, customers, forwarders, and brokers.
- Experience working with Customs, brokers, and freight forwarders.
- Knowledge of Customs regulations.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and maintain excellent request response time.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- Prior Import/Export experience with manufactured engineered products with global organization strongly desired.
- Detailed understanding of Import/Export process with the ability to improve process.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Familiar with Tariff Classification rules and practices.
- Strong leadership skills, ability to influence without control, self-starter, and proactive thinker.
- Strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of facility products, materials, customer applications and the company’s business, products, and services.
- Understanding of receiving process, discrepancy handling, and inventory control and experience in supply chain, purchasing or logistics.
- BS or BA Degree in relevant field and 3-5 years relevant experience
