Department Summary
The Controls Team Focuses on the design and modeling of a diverse range of dynamic mechatronic systems. This includes the integration and programming of the devices that will control the equipment and interface with material delivery and sortation systems throughout the plant. Works with the electrical design and overall project teams to document systems, coordinate electrical standardization and ensure consistence between projects. Designs and drafts control systems for material handling solutions using AutoCAD Electrical as needed. Drawing sets include device layout drawings, control schematics, panel layouts, and network and installation details.
Job Summary
Designs control systems for industrial material handling solutions. Includes concepting new ideas, developing specifications and requirements, implementing proof of concepts and prototypes, performing high level and detailed designing, and leading the transition to manufacturing. Leads large projects or multiple smaller projects and provides direction and training to less-senior associates.
Responsibilities Lead in the concepting and design of products that add value and are a solution to customers and market needsLead and collaborate with others on the development team to develop productsEnsure products developed fit with current and future manufacturing operationsEnsure products developed meet competitive and market demands for performance and costSpecify and develop a sequence of operations of automated equipmentPrepares schematics and specifications for control panel fabricationDevelop Programmable Logical Control (PLC) programsMaintain product develop schedules and cost estimatesFollow established engineering standards and best practices including software revision controlPerform prototype development and testingPerform on site beta testing to ensure safety, reliability, and other performance metrics are metInvestigate product issues in the field and determine root causeDomestic travel up to 40% in North America, mostly within the Continental United States. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering field, or equivalent experienceMinimum of 6 years of related experienceExperience with industrial HMI and SCADA systems, Allen-Bradley controls/controllers and Schneider PLCsIn-depth knowledge of industrial automation systems, including HMI and SCADA systems, Allen-Bradley controls/controllers, and Schneider PLCsProficient with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical or other related electrical CAD systems such as EPlanAbility to lead a team and accomplish project goals effectivelyAbility to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlinesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsTeam-oriented and collaborativeCreative-thinking and problem-solving skillsAbility to learn new technologiesSelf-motivatedAbility to work non-traditional hours
