Johnson Service Group an Award-winning staffing Company is looking for someone with a Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in OD/ID grinding, preferably in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing. This is a Temp-Direct job in Van Nuys for a Machine shop.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled OD/ID Grinding Technician to operate precision grinding machines to produce components to tight aerospace or high-precision tolerances. The ideal candidate will have experience with both external (OD) and internal (ID) cylindrical grinding, a strong understanding of GD&T, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, quality-focused environment. Key Responsibilities: Set up and operate OD/ID grinding machines (manual and/or CNC) to perform precision grinding operations. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Measure workpieces using micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to tight tolerances. Adjust machine settings and tooling to achieve optimal surface finish and dimensional accuracy. Perform in-process inspections and document results according to quality standards. Maintain equipment by performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting issues as needed. Work with engineering and quality teams to resolve manufacturing issues and implement process improvements. Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all safety procedures and protocols. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; technical or trade school certification preferred. Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in OD/ID grinding, preferably in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing. Ability to work to close tolerances (±0.0001”) and interpret GD&T. Familiarity with grinding wheels, dressing tools, feeds, speeds, and coolant systems. Proficiency in using precision inspection tools such as micrometers, indicators, and surface finish comparators. Strong attention to detail and quality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Skills: Experience with CNC grinding machines (e.g., Studer, Okuma, Toyoda, etc.) Aerospace or defense industry experience (AS9100 or similar) Basic knowledge of SPC and documentation requirements
