Job Details Job ID: 5095773 Job Description Position Title: High School Science (Earth and Space Science) Teacher Salary Range: Teacher Contract Contract Length: Teacher Contract (180 days) Position Summary: This position requires a highly qualified, Indiana certified Earth and Space Science teacher. Individuals must be able to teach high school students at all grade levels (9-12) in Earth and Space Science. Individuals must be highly skilled in providing individualized instruction using differentiated instructional strategies, along with cooperative learning strategies, and provide laboratory experiences, within a class that includes a wide range of student ability levels. Job Description: + Candidates will display professionalism and the ability to work cooperatively with others. + Candidates must be highly skilled in classroom management and student engagement skills. + Skillfully use differentiated instructional strategies to meet individual student learning styles, demonstrate experience implementing innovative instructional programs/practices. + Skillfully use cooperative learning strategies, and provide laboratory experiences (40% - 50%) along with a long-term inquiry project. + Use data to guide instruction and be able to work collaboratively in a Professional Learning Community + Prepare lesson plans based on the Indiana State Standards + Actively participate in ongoing curriculum development. + Participate in the 8-Step Process of instruction and remediation/ enrichment. Candidates must have knowledge of and experience using software or on-line tools to remediate, enrich, and increase student skill levels. + Must have demonstrated communication skills with students and parents, and a willingness to proactively contact parents to keep them fully informed of their student’s progress. + Maintain open communication with administrators regarding all aspects of the instructional program including grades, attendance, and behavior. + Must have knowledge of and demonstrated ability to create a positive and professional relationship with students and the ability to create a welcoming, focused, and productive learning environment where students feel comfortable seeking assistance. + When appropriate, candidates must be a cooperative member of the Small Learning Community – Freshman Academy, and must attend Freshman Academy Meetings. Qualifications: + Must hold a valid High School Level License/Certification in Earth and Space Science. + Must be Highly Qualified + A Master's Degree or higher is preferred. + Previous experience teaching in an urban high-school setting is preferred. + Candidates must not have had a recommendation for Probation Assistance on their most recent evaluation. + Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with students, faculty and administration. Special Considerations: An ideal candidate will also hold a valid License/Certification in another science field, including, but not limited to Biology, Chemistry or Physics, Math, and/or in Technology Education. Advanced Placement certification in Chemistry or Physics is desirable. Experience teaching Advanced Science – Special Topics, including but not limited to, Astronomy & Meteorology, and Environmental Science is preferable.
