ICC Soil | Concrete Inspector

CEIS | Clover Leaf Solutions is seeking an experienced Soils/Concrete Inspector to support ongoing infrastructure and facility projects at a DOE facility in Los Alamos, NM. This role requires a detail-oriented and safety-conscious professional capable of performing field and laboratory materials testing, documentation, and inspection on a dynamic and technically rigorous job site.

Key Responsibilities

Perform field and laboratory testing and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, and related materials per ASTM, ACI, and project specifications.

Conduct compaction testing (nuclear gauge) and verify compliance with proctor specifications.

Monitor concrete placement operations, including sampling, slump, air content, temperature, and strength specimen collection.

Document test results, material conformance, and deviations using standardized forms and digital reporting tools.

Communicate field observations and test results to construction managers, contractors, and engineers in a timely and accurate manner.

Coordinate with general contractors and LANL personnel to schedule inspections and access work areas.

Interpret and apply technical specifications, drawings, and construction codes related to site civil works.

Ensure construction practices align with safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Assist with pre-placement meetings, punch walks, and close-out documentation.

Participate in weekly project coordination meetings as needed and maintain inspection logs and reports.

Support LANL’s quality assurance and safety programs by reporting issues, participating in toolbox talks, and upholding Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) expectations.

Required Qualifications

ICC or NICET Certification in soils, concrete, or construction materials testing preferred (e.g., ICC Reinforced Concrete, Soils Special Inspector, ACI Field Testing Technician – Grade I).

Minimum 3–5 years of field experience in civil/materials inspection.

Knowledge of ASTM and ACI testing procedures and specifications.

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification required or willingness to obtain.

Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain a DOE Clearance.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with inspection documentation and reporting tools.

Able to work independently in outdoor environments and around active construction zones.

Familiarity with LANL, DOE, or other federal project environments a plus.

Understanding of geotechnical site development, grading, excavation, and backfill procedures.
