IC Technical Manager

You will manage a team of Technical Team Leaders, Chemists and Technicians. You will work with manager and other functions to establish an agreed plan of action according to achieving the business strategy. You will manage a portfolio of projects, prioritizes work and align resources to meet the agreed plan. You will reports directly to Regional Technical Director.

Key Responsibilities

You will create value through value creation programmes, including formula cost reduction and complexity reduction initiatives.

You will understand customer and end-user needs and practices.

Replicates and leverages technical successes elsewhere to deliver speed to scale.

You will use appropriate interpersonal styles to gain acceptance of ideas and plans.Is accountable for product quality and standards.

Coach, guides and provides ongoing feedback to facilitate development of subordinates.

Set objectives and review performance to ensure all team members are engaged in delivering the technical programme.

Identify career development needs and set a development plan for each team member.

Contribute to the development of the technical plan through working with key functions such as Sales/Marketing and Production to set agreed priorities and objectives.

Lead, plan and prioritise a programme of work for the team to ensure that key innovation, value creation, product and process improvement objectives are delivered.

Maintain products to agreed levels of quality performance, benchmarked against key competitors and in full compliance with Product Stewardship policies.

Use a wide range of information sources, e.g. suppliers, internal expertise and peer group network in seeking best solutions. Stay up to date with latest formulation technologies and practices.

Provide Technical support to Sales/Marketing, Purchasing and Supply Chain.

You will need to monitors competitors' products and their quality.

Qualifications

Graduate with Honours Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.

8-10 years' work experience in a technical role at a relevant company within the chemical or coatings industry.

Min 5 years of experience as people manager

Experience working with other functions, managing people and leading teams.

Knowledge of Best practice in formulation science along with a deep understanding of paint manufacturing and production processes.

Detailed knowledge of raw material suppliers and their technologies.

Strongly market connected with a detailed knowledge of both applicators and end-users.

Good commercial awareness including, branding, finance, channels to market etc.

Good understanding of business processes in other functions especially Sales/Marketing, Operations and Supply Chain.

Detailed knowledge of EHS, Product Stewardship and regulatory processes/compliance.
