Job Description

AECOM is seeking a self-motivated and experienced Hydrogeologist, who has 4 years of experience to support environmental investigation and remediation projects in Parkersburg, West Virginia. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in hydrogeology and environmental consulting, and who bring project management experience or a desire to grow into a leadership role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and executing site characterization, groundwater investigations, and remediation activities. The position involves both office and field work, with a focus on technical planning, data analysis, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead or support environmental investigations at a chemical plant site, including groundwater, soil, and vapor sampling.Develop and implement site investigation work plans, health and safety plans, and remediation strategies.Manage environmental data and contribute to conceptual site models.Oversee subcontractors including drilling, excavation, and laboratory services.Conduct aquifer testing, geophysical surveys, and monitoring well installations.Prepare technical reports and regulatory submittals.Support or lead project management tasks including budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.Promote a strong safety culture and mentor junior staff.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field.Minimum of 4 years of experience in environmental investigation and remediation OR a combination of experience and education.  Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle records check.U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.Successful candidate will be required to pass a Drug and Alcohol screen.  

Preferred Qualifications:

6+ years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on hydrogeology and remediation.Experience working at chemical manufacturing or industrial sites.Project management experience or demonstrated leadership in environmental consulting.Proficiency in groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling.Strong technical writing and reporting skills.Familiarity with West Virginia environmental regulations.40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification and current 8-hour refresher.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and environmental data management tools.
