**Job Description**
As a Hydraulics Engineer, you will lead the planning, analysis, and design of stormwater management systems, floodplain studies, and drainage infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with civil engineers, environmental specialists, and planners to design solutions that protect communities and infrastructure from flooding and extreme weather events. Your expertise will support permitting processes, FEMA compliance, and resilience strategies across Hawaiʻi’s most complex public and private projects.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Perform advanced hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS) for flood risk studies, channel analysis, and drainage design.
+ Prepare Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) updates, floodplain delineations, and FEMA submissions.
+ Lead the design of stormwater infrastructure, detention basins, and erosion control systems.
+ Conduct field inspections and assessments to validate hydraulic models.
+ Write and review technical reports, calculations, and environmental documentation.
+ Provide guidance to junior engineers and coordinate with cross-functional project teams.
**Requirements**
+ Degree: BS in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering (MS preferred).
+ Experience: 5–8 years of experience in hydrology, floodplain engineering, or water resources.
+ Licensure: PE in Hawaiʻi or ability to obtain within 12 months.
+ Technical Skills: HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, SWMM, AutoCAD Civil 3D, FEMA floodplain regulations, and drainage design.
+ Strong technical writing, problem-solving, and project management skills.
