Our Taneytown, MD Pump Manufacturing facility is over 150,000 square feet and provides the capability for engineering, design, customer service, machining, assembly, and testing for a diverse product portfolio, which serves all markets (power, oil & gas, water resources, general industry, and chemical). The facility has expanded four times since opening in 1971 to accommodate revenue growth and product line developments. The entire project lifecycle is experienced all under the same roof.
Role Summary:
Create hydraulics testing reports for all pumps. Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes involving machining, assembly, and testing. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, and production. Analyzes and improves quality, cost, and delivery by using Lean and Six Sigma tools. Provides engineering support in production departments by trouble shooting and resolving technical issues.
Responsibilities:
Work through operations teams to achieve established business objectives by driving Continuous Improvement, improving quality performance, eliminating process waste, improving process efficiency, and increasing the skills and engagement of all associates.Daily use of lean manufacturing tools, including but not limited to: Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, Problem Solving, 5S, Material Flow, SMED, Visual Workplace, TPM, etc.Identify and solve problems to root cause through the application of Lean methodologies.Lead Lean project development, implementation, and review to enable continuous improvement in a Lean environment.Conduct, complete, and standard process optimizations through process control and control plans to achieve significant and sustainable improvements in processes and quality.Collaborate with site resources to ensure best practices are shared across the organization.Assist in or lead Lean training sessions for all levels of the site.Execution of the performance test of pumps as well as complete units.Provide guidance to all (operational) activities related to the physical testing of centrifugal pumps and complete unit tests and assess (hydraulic) performance and mechanical behavior (vibrations, temperature, sound).Evaluate technical specifications to establish hydraulic testing requirements (such as capacity, head and power) and issue Test Procedures.Evaluation of test results and issue a Test Report with clear conclusions.Prepare testing proposals for financial evaluation.Define system and instrumentation requirements for hydraulic performance and vibration testing.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering3+ years in manufacturing and production environment.Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and strong written/verbal communication skills.Proven leader with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a cross-functional group of technical and operations associates to solve problems and improve processes.Must be results-oriented and willing to participate in hands-on experience.Excellent problem-solving skills in collecting and analyzing data and drawing conclusions from analysis.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Skills:
Practical Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Toyota Production System, Operational Excellence, Continuous Improvement systems.Experience with rotating equipment.Working knowledge of Minitab Software.

The pay range for this position is $83,858 - $ 125,846 USD Annual depending on experience
