HW Principal Engineer

We are the only automotive provider focused exclusively on cockpit electronics – the fastest-growing segment in the industry. Key Objectives of this Role:
• Support cross functional teams with Component Engineering deliverable like Part Management, SCR Risk Assessment, PPAP Reliability review, etc.
• Extended Hardware Design support to evaluate Alternate component for products and to establish Quote Schematics and Electrical Bill of Material (EBOM)
• Support on alternate components for Product Development needs, Part Shortage, Multi sourcing, etc.
• Perform Product Bill of Materials (BOMs) Risk and Cost Analysis for Cost, Lifecycle Risks, Auto-Grades, Multi-sourcing opportunities, etc.
• As part of VAVE, explore and assess cost effective alternate components and drive Ideation for implementation acceptance.
• Interact with Semiconductor houses and bring-in Technological advancement in Components to Visteon Products
• ISO/TS 16949 alignment

Key Performance Indicators:
Component and Hardware Design Engineering deliverable. Adherence to internal Quality, Cost and time. Proactiveness & Contribution to internal Initiatives.

Key Year One Deliverables:
Ramp and deliver quality Component Engineering output, complete understanding of Automotive Requirement with respect to Component Engineering, Participate & Contribute to Key Initiatives, Generate VAVE Ideation and perform feasibility study of generated Ideations. Build Schematic and EBOMs based on Hardware Architecture for Quotes, Understand & Collaborate with Key Stakeholders globally.

Qualification, Experience and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electronics/Electrical Engineering)
• 12-15 years of relevant experience preferably in global environment and in Automotive Domain
• Experience collaborating with global Cross Functional team.
• Experience of Product Development process and Product Lifecycle Management
• Strong MS Office proficiency, specifically on MS Excel & its advance skills like Macros/automations
• Strong Business communication skills – Verbal/Written/Presentation
• Know how on Design to Cost, Design to Lifecycle and Design to Quality type of approaches.
• Project Management basics
• Understanding of automotive domain
• Abreast of latest technology trends in automotive
• Understanding of latest semiconductor technology trends
• Effective Time and task management skills
• Flexibility in working hours to interact with a Global team. 
Component Engineering Skills:
• Strong Technical expertise of all Standard & Advanced Electronic & Electro-Mechanical Components
• Specialization on Automotive grade Components, AECQ Requirements, PPAP-Reliability review, etc.
• Strong understanding of Component Life Cycle Status and related business impacts and risk mitigations
• Ability to understand Application requirements and suggest suitable Component solutions.
• Strong Analog and Digital Hardware Engineering background to understand the application and circuit needs.
• Ability to suggest better/optimized component solution with a details Specification comparison study.
• Knowledge on broader Component Engineering process and Component Change Management process
• Thorough working experience of Component Engineering Tools like PDM, PLM, Third Party PLM Tools, etc.
• Knowledge of cost effective and/or Trier2/3 Component supplier is a value adder

Hardware Design and Value Engineering Skills:
• Automotive embedded HW design requirements understanding and interpretation skills
• Analog/Digital interfacing and Power supply design with hands on exposure up to an extent – Proficiency (Medium)
• Understanding of hardware product development life cycle
• Understanding automotive product validation environment and able to map the design requirements as per the same
• Converting the product hardware architecture into full-fledge circuit design worthy of validation
• Design and Development of circuit schematic for automotive product like Display control, automotive Instrument cluster, In-vehicle Entertainment products
• Review Alternate Components with actual application based on schematic and come up with feasibility study
• Study existing Schematic & Hardware requirement for optimizing Components and Component cost
• Value Assessment and Value Engineering (VAVE) Proficiency with prior work experience
• Ability to collaborate and interact with cross functional teams like Engineering, Purchasing, Supply-Chain, etc. to accomplish objectives.
