HVRP Veteran Resource Support Specialist Job Details Job Location Reno 316 340 Maine - Reno, NV Position Type Full Time Education Level High School Salary Range $19.26 - $19.26 Hourly Travel Percentage Up to 25% Job Shift Any Description Position Summary: The Veteran Resource Support Specialist acts as a peer navigator and advocate for veterans in the HVRP program, providing personalized support, mentorship, and connections to essential services. Responsibilities include guiding veterans through program enrollment, coordinating supportive services (e.g., mental health, benefits, clothing, transportation), facilitating workshops, and following up on progress. This role is vital in building rapport and trust with participants and improving retention in the program. Essential Job Functions: + Encourages, Inspires and empowers to reach treatment goals + Coordinates & facilitates veteran peer groups related to removing environmental obstacles and improving healthy life skills and social connectedness including teaching relaxation and mindfulness strategies + Works as part of a collaborative health team and track participant progress and maintain accurate documentation of job placements and retention outcomes. + Collaborate with case managers, vocational training programs, and veteran service providers to enhance employment success. + Facilitate workshops and job fairs to connect veterans with employment opportunities. Must Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation; and + Mentors in the recovery process (e.g., reassures to the reality of recovery, assists + with increasing personal empowerment, helps set & achieve goals) + Provides information & assists with applying for supplemental programs such as + housing + Assists persons with completing forms; develops services & supports to identify + service & support gaps for individuals with mental health or co-occurring mental + health and substance use disorders; participates on treatment teams with person’s consent + Collaborates to assist with intake/discharge planning (e.g., conducts intake and discharge surveys, facilitates exit interviews) + Monitors satisfaction + Completes and submit documentation as determined by the Director of Peer + Services + Provides support and encouragement to family members + Meet individuals where they are in the community and transport individuals to + appointments as needed + Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Essential Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Certifications/Licenses: + Ability to pass First level and NABS background clearance + During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you Education: + High school diploma or GED required; relevant certifications in peer support, recovery, or case management are a plus Experience and Competencies: + Veteran status or lived experience with military culture strongly preferred + Minimum 1 year experience working in social services, veteran programs, or outreach roles + Knowledge of VA and community resources for veterans, including employment, housing, and behavioral health + Strong written and verbal communication skills + Ability to build trust, motivate clients, and maintain professional boundaries + Willingness to conduct field visits and accompany clients to appointments when needed + Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality. + Professional appearance and demeanor. + Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a criminal background clearance. + Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance are required; and + During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you. CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and an annual Tuberculosis test
