About the Role:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced HVAC Technician to join our team at Auckland Prison. In this role, you will work closely with the Facilities Manager and Trades Operations Supervisor to deliver high-quality maintenance services across the site. You will be responsible for conducting inspections, managing subcontractors, completing documentation, and ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a secure and structured environment.

Key responsibilities include:

Performing planned and reactive maintenance on HVAC systems.

Coordinating subcontractor activities and ensuring compliance.

Conducting regular facility inspections and reporting issues.

Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities.

Participating in emergency response efforts and supporting minor projects.

Ensuring all work is completed in line with KPIs and safety standards.

About You:

Trade qualified HVAC Technician with commercial maintenance experience.

General understanding of core building services (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).

Comfortable working in a secure environment and passing background checks.

Strong commitment to safety, security, and ethical conduct.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Able to work on an on-call roster.

Computer literate and able to manage documentation.

Site Safe, Working at Heights, and EWP certifications beneficial (training provided if needed).

Good personal presentation and customer service skills are also essential, as is a clean full driver’s licence.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a drug test, complete a Pre-employment Health Questionnaire and MOJ check. A criminal conviction review is also a requirement of the role.
