Hvac Engineer
We are hiring a full-time HVAC Mechanical Engineer to support our AC Install department in Fullerton, CA. This role plays a key part in the design/build process for commercial and light industrial HVAC systems, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, Title 24 compliance, and system performance. The position involves approximately 70% field work and 30% office-based design, serving clients across Southern California. Key Responsibilities + Design HVAC systems including heat load calculations, duct and pipe sizing, and layout planning. + Use EnergyPro software to generate Title 24 compliance reports. + Collaborate with CAD drafters to produce permit-ready mechanical drawings. + Conduct site visits and job walks to gather field data and validate designs. + Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and installers to resolve technical challenges. + Ensure systems meet California mechanical/building codes and ASHRAE standards. + Select and size HVAC equipment such as boilers, chillers, ammonia systems, and ventilation components. + Support project engineers during proposal, permitting, and construction phases. Required Qualifications + Minimum 5 years of experience in the HVAC industry, preferably in commercial or industrial projects. + Proficiency in EnergyPro software. + Strong understanding of California codes, Title 24, and ASHRAE standards. + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred). + OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to complete—training provided). + Ability to read blueprints and collaborate with field teams including installers, welders, and pipe fitters. Preferred Qualifications + PE license in California (preferred but not required). + Experience working with boilers, chillers, ammonia systems, and large-scale refrigeration systems. + Familiarity with RSD suppliers and permitting processes. + Prior experience in construction, welding, or mechanical trades is valued.
