HV Electrician - Dawson South Workshop

Our Dawson operation is a large open-cut coal mine and is showing no signs of slowing down! Dawson’s mining process is completed by varied fleets of which this role focuses on the biggest; Draglines, Electric Rope Shovels, 600t & 260t Hydraulic Excavators fleets and diesel Overburden Drill fleet.

It’s not just the interesting large pieces of equipment that you would be working on, it’s also the placement of Dawson, it is located at the southern end of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, being just over a 2hrs drive west from either Rockhampton or Gladstone, or 4.5hrs drive north of the Darling Downs or South Burnett.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and qualified HV Electrician to permanently join our Southern Workshop department at Dawson Mine in Moura, QLD.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will contribute as a member of the HME Workshop Maintenance team ensuring the availability, reliability and performance of mining equipment is optimised and the electrical maintenance plan is achieved to enable production targets to be met in compliance with statutory, safety, health, budget, and environmental requirements.

As the HV Electrician in the Workshop, the key responsibilities are:

Preventative maintenance through scheduled inspections, servicing, adjustments, troubleshooting, and timely repair of HME workshop equipment.Provide reliable and accurate maintenance knowledge and expertise to minimise downtime of HME equipment.Working knowledge of all task instructions and procedures to adhere to when carrying out maintenance tasks.Maintain a high level of housekeeping and accurate record keeping wherever work is carried out.Electrical inspection of open-cut electrical equipment and/or fixed plant electrical systems.Diagnosis faults and effect repairs to electrical equipment & field devices.Testing & Tagging, of electrical equipment/appliances.Electrical isolations/lockouts as per the site SHMS procedures.Statutory inspections & testing of safety devices.Ensure all electrical activities are undertaken and are performed in line with relevant statutory requirements and site Safety Health Management System.

Qualifications

To be successful in the role you will have previous Electrical Maintenance experience in Mining or Heavy Industrial industries. The following qualifications, licenses and experience requirements are:

QLD Electrical License and relevant Electrical Trade CertificationA Manual C-Class Australian Driver’s LicenseExperience and knowledge in PLC controlled equipment and systemsHV Switching qualification is desirableExperience with Komatsu 830E/930E is highly regardedA basic understanding of SAP maintenance systems is desirableAdditional tickets are desirable: Elevated Work Platform (EWP), Forklift, Rigging and Dogging, Confined Space and Working at Heights
