Human Rights Manager
Location - McLean VA - hybrid - no relocation available

The Mars Thriving People team is hiring a Human Rights Manager to help us provide key support as we look to scale programs and processes across our complex value chain. This role will build the tools, partnerships and processes to bring this work to life for Mars associates. This position has both strategic and operational elements. Through strong project management, data-driven insights and the knowledge of how businesses operate, this roll will advance Mars in respect to human rights and drive greater social Impact across our value chains.
This role will report to the Social Impact Director and will require close collaboration within the Thriving People team and other associates working on Thriving People priorities and programs within Mars.

What are we looking for?
Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Masters preferred) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in social sustainability, business & human rights, procurement, and/or responsible sourcing at within a corporate or NGO environment.
Proven track record to understand, analyze and visualize complex data related to human rights impact
Excellent project management skills and obsessive attention to detail.
Demonstrated commitment to and passion for advancing human rights in global supply chains, with direct experience supporting on program development, deployment and measurement.
Demonstrated ability to communicate via multiple formats, including data visualizations, written narratives, and verbal presentations.
Highly effective collaborator and networker - able to build and manage complex relationships internally and externally.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Develop internal communication, training, and capability building materials and tools to create awareness of and support for program goals, KPIs and targets, progress, and impacts.
Support our Thriving People ambition on human rights and social impact in our origin communities, including around topics such as land rights, Human Rights Defenders and emerging areas of opportunity.
Facilitate meetings, training, and touchpoints to drive capacity development and awareness across Mars business segments.
Support the Thriving People team in the development of new projects across human rights due diligence and social impact in our origin communities, as well as in new areas of the business.
Support building robust stakeholder management practices by developing processes to engage more effectively with stakeholders across our value chain, including through worker and farmer voice tools.
Identify opportunities for integration and collaboration not only within Thriving People but also across impact areas (healthy planet and sustainable packaging).
