General Summary
This role oversees regional recruitment, employee relations, benefits, compensation, training and development, talent management, and labor relations to ensure alignment with the company’s HR goals and encourage employee engagement. Based in Memphis, Tennessee, the position serves the southeast aggregate, asphalt, and paving operations of Lehman-Roberts, Dickerson & Bowen, and Memphis Stone & Gravel.Essential Job Accountabilities
Lead the region’s human resources functions by consulting, guiding, and educating management and employees on best human resource practices to ensure increased commitment in attaining the company’s strategic objectives.
Communicate and provide guidance on various federal and state laws affecting hiring, retention, corrective coaching, and termination processes to minimize litigation and protect the interests of employees and the company.
Act as a liaison between the corporate office and the field in communicating and educating about policies/ procedures, new program rollouts, leave administration and EEO to ensure understanding, compliance, accurate processing and reporting.
Coach and train line managers on HR practices and procedures regarding employee relations including assisting supervisors in terminations, coordinating the Employee Dispute Resolution Program, conducting internal investigations and recommending solutions regarding complaints to ensure employees are treated fairly as well as compliance with company policy.
Assist the regional management teams in identifying and developing the talent that will provide a competitive skill advantage and ensure that current and future business needs are met.
Guide, train, and coach employees and managers on performance management to conduct effective performance reviews, identify and reward employee success, provide advancement opportunities and establish a high-performance culture.
Support, advise, and partner with management on human resources programs and policies which strengthen Granite’s competitive advantage and ensures recognition as the Employer of Choice.
Comply, understand, and promote corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
Guide, train, and coach employees and managers on performance management to conduct effective performance reviews, identify and reward employee success, provide advancement opportunities and establish a high-performance culture
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent relevant work experience
PHR certification desired
Work Experience
A minimum of five years' experience as a human resources generalist is required.
At least five years' experience in employee relations is required.
Demonstrated proficiency and prior experience with Workday is highly preferred.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and personal information of employees.
Ability to cultivate high trust, professional, and respectful relationships with all employees to ensure the highest level of effectiveness as an HR professional.
Ability to take initiative, work autonomously and drive projects forward
Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Knowledge of HR regulations and laws including ADA, FMLA, EEO, Labor Unions, FLSA
Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Public speaking and presentation skills a must.
Sense of urgency
Leadership skills to promote and influence a positive work environment.
