Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Human Resources (HR) Assistant to join our team on a contract basis in Rockville Center, New York. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting onboarding processes, verifying employment documentation, and assisting with benefits-related inquiries. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the success of an organization while gaining valuable HR experience.
Responsibilities:
• Facilitate employee onboarding by verifying employment eligibility documentation and ensuring compliance with I-9 requirements.
• Conduct background checks to support hiring processes and maintain organizational standards.
• Provide guidance to employees on benefits enrollment and address related inquiries.
• Assist in auditing I-9 documentation to ensure accuracy and adherence to compliance regulations.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by promptly responding to employee questions and concerns.
• Collaborate with HR team members to streamline onboarding procedures and improve efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of employee documentation and ensure confidentiality.
• Support administrative tasks related to HR operations, including filing and data entry.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and federal employment regulations.
• Participate in special projects or initiatives as needed within the HR department. Requirements • Minimum of 1 year of experience in human resources or a related field.
• Familiarity with I-9 audits and compliance processes.
• Proven ability to conduct background checks and manage sensitive information.
• Knowledge of benefits administration and functions.
• Strong customer service skills with an approachable and detail-oriented demeanor.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in handling administrative tasks, including record-keeping and data management.
