The HR Generalist should have excellent organizational skills to keep track of employee information, while supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives and contributing to organizational development and culture building. This is a part-time position. S upervision E xercised This position does not supervise any employees. Description of Job This is an entry-level position, responsible for recruitment & Onboarding, posting jobs, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and guiding new hires through orientations. Employee Relations: Acting as a liaison between employees and management, resolving conflicts, and maintaining a positive work environment. Benefits & Compensation Administration: Managing health insurance, retirement plans, payroll processes, and ensuring equitable compensation. Policy Implementation & Compliance; Communicating company policies, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and maintaining employee records. Training and Development; Coordinating professional development opportunities, tracking training programs, and supporting employee growth. Performance Management; Assisting with reviews, managing disciplinary actions, and promoting performance improvement plans. Data Management: Updating employee records and using data to inform decisions. J ob D uties The duties listed below reflect the different types of work that may be performed. The omission of any specific duty will not prevent the assignment of work that is appropriately related to this position. + Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training . This includes the Department of Public Administration yearly HR Compliance Trainings within the LXP Platform. + Recruits, interviews, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental supervisors to understand skills and competencies required for openings. + Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications, including submitting I-9 documentation. + Implement new hire orientation. Including on-boarding of new hire, new hire paperwork, benefits administration, and compliance with all state and federal documents. + Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance evaluations, occupational health and safety, and training and development. + Handles employment - related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and /or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff . + Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. + Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. + Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. + Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Education and Experience Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying . A typical way to obtain knowledge and abilities would be: Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Human Resource, Business Administration, or a related field. Substitution: Four (4) years of experience in a related field can replace the education requirement of a bachelor’s degree. Experience: + Four (4) years of experience in Human Resources + Standard office practices, procedures, software and equipment, including the use of personal computers, telephones, Zoom, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook and Teams) + Experience in multiple platforms such as LXP, Cornerstone, CPPS, UKG Dimensions (Kronos), Origami and Employers Edge. + Understanding of FAMLI, PFML, FMLA, and Administrative Leave + Executing training on processes and procedures Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Human Resources, or Business Administration. Experience: + Five (5) years of experience as an HR Generalist Licenses and Certifications: + SHRM – CP a plus Knowledge of: + O ffice practices, procedures, software and equipment, including the use of personal computers, telephones, Zoom, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Teams) + State statutes, rules and regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines + Experience in LXP, Employers Edge, OnBase, Employee Engagement – 360 feedback, UKG Dimensions, Origami, Cornerstone Training, and Central Payroll Platforms. + Expert in FAMLI, PFML, and FMLA execution practices + Expert in Kaiser, Anthem, Delta Dental, and VSP platforms.
