This position will aid our federal client's public health investigations across various information sources (e.g. scientific literature, public information websites, databases), building data repositories, integrating disparate data sources, improving data quality and developing and documenting methodology to answer regulatory safety\efficacy questions using a suite of analytical tools and visualization outputs (i.e. summary reports, dashboards).
What You Will Do:
Perform quality control checks and clean up large datasets to ensure accuracy and reliability.Prepare and manipulate structured and unstructured datasets (e.g., Oracle, SQL, Excel, text, images) for use in food and ingredient monitoring efforts.Develop coding and queries to support big data testing and dashboard development using tools like Qlik, Tableau, and Power BI.Use version control software (e.g., Git) to collaborate on data science projects.Apply critical thinking and quantitative skills to conduct analyses on food and ingredient-related public and private datasets.Use Python libraries such as NumPy, Pandas/Polars, and Scikit-learn for numeric computing and machine learning.Research regulatory topics and prepare documentation, summary reports, memoranda, abstracts, and publications.Communicate technical concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Expand regulatory knowledge relevant to food safety, ingredient monitoring, and public health.
