Responsibilities: 

Supports the Sr. HSE Coordinator in the implementation, administration and maintenance of facility level HSE programs in accordance with legal and company requirements.  Delivers or facilitates training required by HSE regulations and corporate HSE initiatives.Conducts activities to support compliance obligations associated with applicable federal, state, and local HSE regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).Supports implementation of risk reduction initiatives and programs to minimize/eliminate unsafe conditions and at-risk behaviors.Supports HSE related projects and works with internal maintenance, production management and outside resources on HSE matters as needed.Coordinates and participates on the site’s safety committees and regular functional safety meetings.   Assists in the preparation of HSE performance reports/presentations.  Works closely with Sr. HSE Coordinator to respond to regulatory inquiries, inspections and/or notices of violation pertaining to HSE regulatory requirements, permits and associated programs at the site. Participates in HSE audits including coordinating action plans to close out findings as necessary to ensure compliance and effective performance. Participates in and/or conducts routine HSE walkthroughs and inspections of facility operations. Supports management of corrective actions to ensure timely resolution of findings from incidents, inspections, and audits. Supports implementation of the company’s accident investigation programs and procedures to ensure work related injuries are reported and investigated with root cause analysis to prevent recurrences. Assists with accident investigations if necessary and serves as lead investigator for serious incidents.Supports implementation of in person HSE training working with the Sr. HSE Coordinator.Supports compliance activities associated with environmental compliance programs, including conducting sampling events, collecting data, performing calculations, developing regulatory reports, and record keeping for air, water/stormwater, and special/hazardous waste management programs.Participates in the site’s emergency response team for the site including life/safety, fire protection and emergency evacuation procedures. Participates in the site’s PPE program including identification of minimum, and job specific PPE requirements based on job hazard analyses or risk assessments, PPE training, inspections and audits, and ensuring the correct PPE is available at the site.Utilize HSE data management software to track hazards, near misses, accidents, injuries, safety observations, audits, inspections and associated corrective actions. Identify appropriate systems for management of environmental related data to support compliance with environment permits and associated regulations. Support collecting data necessary to meet environmental sustainability reporting.To the best extent possible, maintain a physical presence in the facility during core work hours by spending time on the manufacturing floor observing and interacting with managers, supervisors and production employees. Periodically attend shift change over meetings and observe operations during off-shift hours to observe effectiveness of HSE management systems.

Required Minimum Qualifications: 

A minimum of 3 years’ professional work experience in a safety role in an industrial / manufacturing environment.  A minimum of 1 year’s professional work experience in an environmental role desired but not mandatory.  Must have the ability to become proficient in federal, state, and local occupational health and safety regulations, applicable industry standards, and core industrial safety concepts (e.g., machine guarding, lockout/tagout, fall protection, rigging, forklift operation, racking etc.) Relevant safety certifications a plus.Must have good working knowledge and/or the ability to quickly learn applicable federal, state and local environmental regulations and applicable standards related to air emissions, water/stormwater management, solid and hazardous waste management practices as they apply to Greene Tweed operations.Good working knowledge of emergency response preparedness, hazardous materials handling, etc.First aid / CPR / AED certification or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months of accepting the position is required. Advanced First Aid certification a plus. Applicable industrial safety training a plus.Ability to participate and support in a forklift operator certification program is required. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.  Program and project management skills are critical. Must possess strong analytical skills to evaluate facility safety awareness and behaviors. Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Ability to work with HSE data management software and analyze data. Ability to maintain accurate records to support compliance and program management.

Education

BS / BA in an appropriate science or technical field is required unless an appropriate amount of equivalent experience is demonstrated.
