Key Responsibilities: Accept legal appointment in terms of General Machinery Regulation 2.1. Ensure safe operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment. Performing maintenance, cleaning or adjustment work. Any prescribed statutory inspections and/or tests are performed by a competent person and that the records in this regard are kept and maintained. Oversee the implementation of engineering controls and statutory inspections. Liaise with the Department of Employment and Labour and ensure compliance with all legal requirements. Lead incident investigations related to machinery and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Facilitate HSE risk assessments and ensure mitigation plans are in place. Ensure compliance with local HSE legislation and company standards. Drive behavioral change through training, awareness, and engagement programs. Support line management in fulfilling their HSE responsibilities. Manage HSE-related projects and contribute to sustainability objectives. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote HSE performance.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements: National Diploma or bachelor’s in technology or BSc Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) – Factories (advantageous or required depending on site). Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Proven experience in HSE management and legal compliance. Strong knowledge of OHS Act, GMR, and relevant SANS standards.
